Death Notice

KENNETH CHARLES, 71 former NFL player and Philadelphia Eagles Coach and Executive, long time resident of Springfield, PA, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at his residence. Ken Iman had been battling complications from heart surgery since 1999.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, he had his start in football at Beaumont High School. He attended South East Missouri State University where he studied Social Studies and Physical Education and earned a Bachelor Degree. Iman played football along side his older brother, Norman during his high school and college years. Ken Iman was signed onto special teams for the Green Bay Packers in 1959 under Coach Vince Lombardi and went on to win two championships in a row. He was later traded to the Los Angeles Rams where Iman played the majority of his 194 games as center under Hall of Fame Coach George Allen. Iman was voted as team MVP in 1972. In the off-season, he was an English and Social Studies teacher at Fox High School in Arnold, Missouri. After 15 seasons as a player in the NFL, Iman began a professional coaching career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent 11 years as an Offensive Line Coach, starting with the Vermeil era. Iman stayed with the Eagles Franchise as an executive for 10 years, where he retired after 40 years in the NFL. Iman was a presenter at the Hall of Fame induction in August, 1999 for close friend and former teammate Mr. Tom Mack.
During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at the gym and his Saturdays, with his long time friend Mike Dougherty, observing Philadelphia Eagles practice.
Ken Iman is the beloved husband of Joyce Iman; loving father to the late Susan Iman, Karen Iman-White, Betsy Iman-Rich, Robert Iman, the late Carmen Ranalli, and Joyce Ranalli-Faragasso; dearly loved grandfather of John White, Cody Rich, Jesse Rich, Gabrielle Faragasso, Frankie Faragasso, Emily White, and Brandon Iman. Friends and Family are invited to a Memorial Ceremony Saturday, Nov. 20, to begin promptly at 1 P.M. (Lombardi time) at the Drexelbrook Grand Ballroom, 4700 Drexel Brook Drive, in Drexel Hill, PA. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made to, Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, 707 Skokie Blvd., Suite 600, Northbrook, IL 60062 in the memory of Ken Iman.
